Missouri Sale

November 23, 2010

winter prairiescapes.  Old  oils  sold

At the side of the road by

Some surviving family,  just in town.

They’re  distant  family, less for  all the miles,

More for  the other.

Some similar paintings  from a man

Familiar with the consistent  desolation themes shown there,

Leaning against a wooden empty mailbox.

Been there. Isn’t it just outside Kansas City?

This poem is, itself, like a painting. You capture that rural desolation so beautifully.
